"I am not one who was born in the custody of wisdom. I am one who is fond of olden times and intense in quest of the sacred knowing of the ancients." Gustave Courbet

Stillness.

Monet, Water Lilies(detail), 1926

Become conscious of being conscious. Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you. Awareness is the power that is concealed within the present moment.

Knowing yourself is to be rooted in Being, instead of lost in your mind. Not to be able to stop thinking is a dreadful affliction, but we don't realize this because almost everyone is suffering from it, so it is considered normal. This incessant mental noise prevents you from finding that realm of inner stillness that is inseparable from Being ... whenever there is inspiration ... and enthusiasm ... there is a creative empowerment that goes far beyond what a mere person is capable of. Life isn't as serious as the mind makes it out to be.
